Zanzzoa Care
Thank you for choosing a Zanzzoa leather piece. It has been crafted by hand to last, with the same patience and precision we devote to every detail. To safeguard its longevity, a few simple habits make all the difference.
The nature of our leathers
Leather is an organic, sensitive material that improves with time. We work with full-grain hides so the top layer remains intact and strong. Natural markings such as fine wrinkles, veins, or pores are part of the skin’s truth. They are not flaws but signs of authenticity that allow the leather to age beautifully and develop a personal patina.
Hardware
Our clasps, rings, and buckles are selected for strength and finish, most often in brass or stainless steel with high-quality surface treatments. They complete the character of the piece and are designed to endure regular use with proper care.
Preserve its appearance
Leather does not enjoy water, intense heat, direct sunlight, or extreme humidity and dryness. If it meets water, blot gently with a soft, lint-free cloth and allow it to dry naturally away from heat. Keep perfumes, lotions, alcohol-based cleaners, and oils away from the surface. Rotate use when possible so the patina develops evenly.
Avoid common mistakes
Inks, lipsticks, and dark raw textiles can transfer permanent color, especially onto light shades. Avoid overfilling or carrying objects with sharp edges that might distort seams or stretch the leather. For lambskin and exotic skins, take extra care to avoid abrasion against rough surfaces.
Rest and storage
When not in use, store your piece in a temperate, dry place away from light, ideally in its cotton dustbag and box. Close straps and zips, support the shape with the original tissue or soft, acid-free stuffing, and avoid moisture-absorbing sachets. Do not store in plastic or airtight containers.
Cleaning
Dust regularly with a clean, soft cloth. For light surface marks on robust leathers such as chèvre and calf, a barely damp cloth may help, followed by gentle drying. Do not use household cleaners or colored cloths. Exotic skins and lambskin should be wiped dry only and left to air.
Aftercare and repairs
Zanzzoa pieces are made to be serviced. Corner refreshes, edge re-polishing, stitch tightening, and hardware adjustments are part of the life of the object. If your piece needs attention, contact the Zanzzoa Atelier so an artisan can advise the appropriate care. Attempting repairs with unsuitable products or tools can cause irreversible damage.
With thoughtful use and periodic care, your Zanzzoa leather object will retain its original beauty, gather a patina unique to you, and accompany you for many years.
